Up for consignment is this 1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt Tribute! Best described as a BIG FUN, BARE BONES BRUTE OF A CAR, this Thunderbolt if one of the finest, if not the finest tribute example in the country.

Restored as a real Thunderbolt tribute, this Texas car started life as a correct 2 door post car, not the longer hardtop pillarless Fairlanes that are not correct.

Finished in Wimbledon White with the Palamino interior, and, in keeping with its designed light weight racing heritage, it has absolutely no creature comforts including correct armrest delete. Further period correct deletes are rear window mechanisms, passenger sun visor & wiper, radio, and of course, no heater or heater mechanisms. Air conditioning is supplied by side vent windows and cowl vents. There is no carpeting, soundproofing, or body caulk. It has thin rubber flooring in it. It does however have an ashtray, but no cigarette lighter!

It even has the period correct and very hard to find lightweight Econoline van seats, that, although they adjust, the seat backs don’t come forward so one has to crawl over them to get in the back seat
..not too difficult as we’ve done it!

Further light weight enhancements are Fiberglass teardrop hood, front fenders and both bumpers.

This car has an Eagle stroked 427 reciprocating assembly with H Beam rods and forged aluminum pistons. The block started life as a 390 FE.

It has a Comp Cam hydraulic flat tappet cam grind with .560” lift and 292 duration. Dove Manufacturing chromoly rocker arms shafts and roller rockers with solid spacers control the valves. It is topped with an Offenhauser medium riser 2X4 intake and 2 Edelbrock 500 CFM carburetors as well as a Pertronix distributor with electronic ignition and a flame thrower coil. The carbs are topped with the correct air plenum fed by correct “corrugated” 7” tubes through the inside light deletes.

It has the correct “baldy” valve coves with correct 427 badges.

A Howe aluminum radiator with a custom made cowling housing 2ea 12” relay powered Spal fans controlled by small switches under the dash. The original fan and shroud come with the car. It was just getting to warm for my taste in traffic on hot days.

The Bolt has a Borg Warner T -10 (again, period correct, as the Toploaders weren’t seen until 1965) shifted by an extremely rare Hurst Competition Plus shifter with reverse lock out safety. Also, Proven force clutch activated by a Wilwood hydraulic clutch assembly
call it a leg saver!

The car has a Ford 9” housing with 3:50 gears, a Trutrac posi unit and 31 spline axles.

Since Dearborn Steel Tubing did the conversions for Ford it has the proper welded rectangular “ladder bars”, cross bracing and driveshaft loop.

Also, correct equal length large primary headers with 3” side exhaust with cuts outs.

 Other period correct details include:

3” lap belts

90 degree sweep, dash mounted Tach

Stainless rear window clips

Trunk mounted battery

Fire Extinguisher

Aluminum front tow brackets

15” steel wheels

This car has all the original glass in it with the exception of the windshield.

This car brings home the bacon! Multiple award winner including the prestigious Holley's Choice Award at the 2022 Ford Fest held in Bowling Green.

Classic Fords $10k-$50k are considered for trade. We ship nationwide as well.
